Managing large fleets of heavy machinery & vehicles
Bringing mixed fleets together.
Most construction companies operate machinery from many different manufacturers. Many of these machines include cellular connections that report valuable machine data, which allows managers to remotely keep tabs on their fleet and make better decisions. Construction projects are complex and have a lot of moving parts. Companies also have multiple work sites spread out over large distances. Managers need to constantly shift machinery between sites to maximize efficiency.
Managers appreciate having access to near real-time data from their connected machines—but they have to log in to several different systems in order to access the data they needed. We heard about the elaborate work arounds that managers had found—creating custom programs or spreadsheets, or even manually entering all of this data into a central location.
Another problem was that every machine in the fleet didn't have the necessary technology to report it's location and hours data. Outfitting each machine with expensive hardware upgrades and monthly subscription fees made it unlikely that the business would adopt the technology fleet-wide. If the whole fleet couldn't be connected, then the benefits of having that real-time data were minimal.
We thought that there was a better way. What if we could put the entire fleet into one system and provide a more affordable alternative?
A central hub for fleet managers.
Today, managers rely on phone communication and spreadsheets to keep tabs on their fleet. With 1Fleet, now managers can keep track of all vehicle locations and equipment operators—all powered by an app running on the operator's smartphone. He doesn't have to rely on paper log books or phone calls to get updated machine information anymore. He can be more proactive scheduling maintenance and making better logistical decisions that maximize the up-time of his fleet.
A simple app for machine operators.
Each operator uses his mobile device to check-in to his vehicle at the beginning of the day. Most operators use the same machine every day, so his frequently used vehicles appear at the top. When he checks in, he can quickly look at the vehicle's engine hours meter and report the current hours and his location.
